Terms of Service
Effective date: August 18, 2026
Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the PCSA - Pan-Cancer Spatial Atlas (the "Service"), made available by The Allman Institute for Personalized Medicine ("Allman," "we," "us," or "our") at pcsa.stomics.io. By creating an account, uploading data, or otherwise accessing or using the Service, you ("you," "User," or "your") agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
If you are using the Service on behalf of an institution, laboratory, or other organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms, and "you" refers to both you individually and that organization.
1. About the Service
The Service allows users to upload hematoxylin & eosin (H&E) whole-slide images (WSIs) and receive automated detection and maturation classification of tertiary lymphoid structures (TLS) using an AI model derived from the pan-cancer TLS atlas framework described in Cho et al., Science 2026. The Service is provided free of charge.
RESEARCH USE ONLY. THE SERVICE IS INTENDED SOLELY FOR RESEARCH PURPOSES. IT IS NOT A MEDICAL DEVICE, IS NOT VALIDATED OR CLEARED FOR CLINICAL DIAGNOSIS, TREATMENT PLANNING, OR ANY OTHER CLINICAL USE, AND MUST NOT BE USED, OR RELIED UPON, TO MAKE DECISIONS ABOUT THE CARE OR TREATMENT OF ANY IDENTIFIABLE PATIENT. YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ENSURING YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE AND ANY OUTPUTS COMPLIES WITH APPLICABLE RESEARCH, ETHICS, AND DATA-PROTECTION REQUIREMENTS.
2. Eligibility and Accounts
You must be at least 18 years old and capable of forming a binding contract to use the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate registration information and to notify us promptly of any unauthorized use of your account.
We may offer the Service free of charge and reserve the right to introduce paid tiers, usage limits, or eligibility requirements (for example, verification of institutional or academic affiliation) in the future, with prior written notice to Users.
3. Data You Submit
3.1 De-identification
You represent and warrant that any whole-slide image or other data you upload to the Service ("User Content") has been de-identified in accordance with applicable law and your institution's policies before submission, and does not contain protected health information, personally identifiable information, direct patient identifiers, or any embedded metadata (including image file metadata) that could reasonably be used to re-identify a patient. You are solely responsible for de-identifying User Content prior to upload; Allman does not verify de-identification and undertakes no independent review of User Content for identifiers.
3.2 Your Right to Use and Share the Data
You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights, consents, approvals, and authorizations including, where applicable, institutional review board (IRB) or ethics committee approval, patient/donor consent, and any required institutional or data-sharing agreement permissions to (a) use the underlying images for research purposes, and (b) upload and share the images with Allman and the Service for processing under these Terms. You are solely responsible for ensuring your submission does not violate any third party's rights or any law, regulation, institutional policy, or agreement applicable to you or the data.
3.3 License You Grant to Us
By submitting User Content, you grant Allman a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, sublicensable license to store, process, analyze, and use your User Content solely to (a) operate and provide the Service to you, and (b) benchmark, test, validate, and improve the Service, its underlying models, and related research, including training, evaluation, and quality-assurance purposes. We will not display, publish, share, or otherwise surface your User Content, in identifiable or attributable form, to other Users or the public. We may use or disclose aggregated or de-identified/anonymized derivatives of User Content (such as summary statistics or model performance metrics) that do not identify you, your institution, or any patient.
This license survives deletion of your account solely to the extent User Content has already been incorporated into aggregated benchmarking, evaluation, or model-improvement datasets or outputs as of the date of deletion; upon request, we will otherwise stop using your identifiable User Content going forward, as described in Section 3.4.
3.4 Retention and Deletion
You may request deletion of your account and associated User Content by contacting us at support@stomics.io. We will delete or de-identify such User Content within a commercially reasonable time, except to the extent it has already been incorporated into aggregated, de-identified benchmarking or model-training datasets, or where retention is required by law.
4. Outputs and Reports
The classifications, scores, and reports generated by the Service ("Outputs") are provided "AS IS" for research purposes only. Outputs are generated automatically by a machine-learning model and may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies. You are solely responsible for independently verifying any Output before relying on it in any way, including in publications.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Upload data you do not have the rights or approvals described in Section 3 to upload;
- Upload images containing identifiable patient information;
- Use the Service for clinical diagnosis, treatment, or any other clinical decision-making;
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the underlying model or source code;
- Use automated means to scrape, bulk-download, or overwhelm the Service outside of intended, reasonable use;
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service;
- Misrepresent your identity, institutional affiliation, or authorization to submit data; or
- Use the Service in violation of any applicable law or third-party right.
6. Intellectual Property
Except for User Content, the Service, including its software, models, design, text, graphics, and the "PCSA" name and branding is owned by Allman or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. Portions of the underlying model and pipeline are made available under open-source licenses as indicated in the associated model repository; nothing in these Terms limits rights separately granted under those open-source licenses. Except as expressly permitted, you may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service.
7. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE AND ALL OUTPUTS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ACCURACY. ALLMAN DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, OR THAT OUTPUTS WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE. THE SERVICE IS NOT A MEDICAL DEVICE AND IS NOT INTENDED FOR CLINICAL USE.
8. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ALLMAN AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND LICENSORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR RESEARCH RESULTS, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. ALLMAN'S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED US $100.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Allman and its affiliates, officers, and employees from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from (a) your User Content, including any breach of the representations in Section 3; (b) your violation of these Terms; or (c) your violation of any law or third-party right.
10. Privacy
Our collection and use of information in connection with the Service, including account information and User Content, is described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause or notice, including for violation of these Terms. You may stop using the Service and request account deletion at any time. Sections 3.3, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 12 survive termination.
12. General
12.1 Changes to These Terms
We may modify these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice (for example, by posting an update on the Service or notifying you by email). Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
12.2 Governing Law; Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Informal resolution and mediation. Before filing a claim, each party agrees to first contact the other and attempt in good faith to resolve any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service informally. If the dispute is not resolved within 30 days, either party may initiate mediation administered by JAMS in San Francisco County, California, before a single JAMS mediator. The parties will share the mediator's fees equally. Mediation must be completed, or deemed at an impasse by the mediator, within 60 days of a written request to mediate unless the parties agree in writing to extend that period.
Binding arbitration. Any dispute not resolved through mediation will be finally settled by binding arbitration administered by JAMS under its Streamlined Arbitration Rules and Procedures then in effect (or, upon the parties' mutual written agreement, by the American Arbitration Association ("AAA") under its Commercial Arbitration Rules), conducted by a single arbitrator in San Francisco County, California, or remotely by agreement of the parties. The arbitrator's award will be final and binding, and judgment on it may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction. Each party bears its own attorneys' fees and costs, except as the arbitrator may otherwise award to a prevailing party where permitted by applicable law or the administering body's rules.
Exceptions. Notwithstanding the foregoing, either party may bring an individual action in small-claims court, or seek temporary or preliminary injunctive relief in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California, to prevent actual or threatened infringement, misappropriation, or violation of a party's intellectual property or confidentiality rights, pending resolution of the underlying dispute through the process above.
Class action waiver. To the extent permitted by applicable law, all disputes will be resolved on an individual basis, and neither party may bring a claim as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective, consolidated, or representative proceeding.
12.3 Severability; Entire Agreement
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full effect. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Allman regarding the Service.
